Pantomime Auditions July 2011
Allied Schools of Dance will be dominating the children’s cast in Aladdin at the Hexagon, Reading
this year having gained a quarter of the places available. It is very encouraging to hear that ALL of
our students who auditioned were offered a part this year.
Huge congratulations to you all; Amy Ball, Freya Bell, Isabella Izquierdo, Libby Sinclair, Margherita
Barbieri, Rachel Warrick-Clark and Serafina Barbieri.
Exam Results 2011
Exam results this year have been outstanding with 20 merits and 17 distinctions
awarded in the RAD exams, 5 merits and 13 distinctions in the ISTD exams, 18
High Distinctions, 28 Distinctions, 67 Honors and 6 Highly Commended in the
Rainbow Awards and 2 merits and 4 distinctions in the LAMDA exams. Well
done to everyone taking part in these.
All England Dance Regional Finals - May/June 2011
Well done to all those children who danced at the All England Dance Competition
Regional Finals over the last couple of weeks. We have had a very successful 2 weeks and we would like
to offer our congratulations to the following students who were awarded an
Honours mark qualifiying them to National Finals in July.
During the first week Margherita Barbieri (pictured above) was placed first in her Character solo
and second in her Greek solo, both with Honors. Libby Sinclair achieved Honors for her lyrical and
National solos. Hannah Rebbeck, was placed 2nd for her Greek Solo and Lauren O'Sullivan
has also qualified with her Greek and National solos, placing 1st and 2nd respectively.
Our second week of qualification has been equally successful with several more students
qualifying to National Finals. Rebekah Elwell was placed 3rd and Lara Weaver 2nd
with Honors in their National Solo sections, Margherita Barbieri won her Modern
Ballet section with an Honours mark. Isabella Izquierdo was placed 2nd in her
Character solo, while Emma Thomas and Margherita Barbieri won the Greek Duet
section qualifying for National Finals. Mansi Virmani and Willow Pitt won their
National Duet section with an Honours mark.
We are thrilled for all of these children for their qualifications. Well done to
you all!!
We have had many more students awarded medals with Distinction Special
Commendation. This is also an extremely high mark. They are as follows:

Royal Berkshire Festival of Dance - February 2011
Congratulations to everyone from Allied Schools of Dance who performed at the
Royal Berkshire Festival of Dance.
We had an extremely successful year, breaking all records with a total of 66
qualifications for the All England Dance Competition Regional Finals.
The picture shows just a few of the 17 trophies won at the festival this year. Well done to Libby Sinclair
who won the Senior Royal Berkshire Championship this year. In total 48
gold medals, 45 silver medals, 30 bronze medals and 17 trophies were taken home
from the festival. This is a huge amount. Well danced
everyone!

Look out for Connor Dudman in the new Wall's Sausages advert. Connor learnt a lot from working on a filming set and was praised for his professionalism.

Margherita Barbieri has been offered a further year in the Royal Ballet School's Mid Associate program and Freya Hatchett has been awarded a further year in the Junior Associate program.

Having recently completed her run in Matilda, Lara Weaver has been snapped up for a part in 'Billy Elliot' in London. Well done Lara!

Another successful year at the BBO Scholars auditions. Well done to Libby Sinclair, Hannah Rebbeck and Nadia Staley, who join Caroline Goatley and Isabella Barbieri on the Senior Ballet Scholars course. Congratulations also to Amy Ball who won a place on the Senior Jazz Scholars course.

It's panto season again! This year Connor Dudman, Maddie Oliver, Grace Key and Freya Harris will be performing in 'Dick Whittington' at the Wilde Theatre, Bracknell. Good luck to you all!

Huge congratulations to Lara Weaver who has been given the part of 'Amanda Thripp' in the new Royal Shakespeare Company's musical 'Matilda'. Lara has thoroughly enjoyed working with such talented performers and loved being swung around on wires!

Margherita Barbieri has been given the opportunity to dance with the world renowned Bolshoi ballet at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. Talented Margherita was picked from some of the best dancers in the country to perform with this professional company. Margherita was chosen to perform in 'Le Corsaire' and 'Paquita'. An outstanding achievement.

Well done to Freya Hatchett who has been awarded a place on the prestigious Royal Ballet School's Junior Associate program. Hundreds of youngsters from all over the country audition for these coveted places, so this is a wonderful achievement for talented Freya.

Exam successes! We have had another succssful session in our BBO ballet exam session this term. Margherita Barbieri and Libby Sinclair really impressed the examiner who awarded them 98% and 97% respectively. Outstanding!

Pantomime successes: Connor Dudman has successfully auditioned for 'Peter Pan' at South Hill Park this year. Those children performing at the Hexagon in Cinderella are Lara Weaver, Matt Payne, Emily Johnson and Amy Ball alongside our jazz teacher, Scott Jenkins. We look forward to supporting you through the Christmas season.

Congratulations to both Nadia Staley and Margherita Barbieri who have won a place on the prestigious Royal Ballet School Mid Associate course in London. There are many thousands of students who apply for auditions and only a handful of applicants win a coveted place. Well done to you both.
