Our Teachers


Principal/Ballet Teacher
Melanie Dudman Dip RBS TTC, BIC Dip INT, AISTD (CB, NB Dist)


Melanie is the principal of Allied Schools of Dance. Melanie studied dance locally, winning many National competitions and festivals before moving to London and completing her teacher training at the prestigious Royal Ballet School in 1991. Since then she has taught in Mainz, Germany and other local schools before returning to Allied Schools of Dance to take up the role of Principal.

Melanie is a highly qualified and experienced teacher whose expertise spans the youngest pupils through to senior level training and preparing students for vocational dance training. Currently Melanie teaches and enters students of all ages for RAD and BBO examinations as well as performing the day to day running of the school, organising shows, festivals and events. She is also a talented choreographer with her work winning awards at the All England National Finals in London.


Ballet Teacher
Roberta McClelland BA (Hons), LRAD


Roberta trained professionally at the English National Ballet School London before continuing her study at the Royal Academy of Dance where she graduated in 2005 with a 1st class degree in the Art and Teaching of Ballet from Durham University, together with her LRAD teaching qualification.

Since then, Roberta has been teaching at the Allied Schools of Dance as a full time ballet teacher for students of all ages and entering them for RAD examinations. She is also a distance learning tutor on the CBTS programme for trainee teachers as well as an approved tutor to teach other teachers the revised RAD Grades 1-3 syllabi to be launched in 2012. She has also taught at the West London School of Dance, Arts Educational School, Chelsea Ballet Schools and Urdang Academy in London and currently teaches on the Urdang Youth Academy programme.


Jazz Teacher
Scott Jenkins


Scott Jenkins trained at the Urdang Academy of Dance and Musical Theatre where he attained top marks. From graduating Scott has been involved in shows that include Pirates of Penzance (London), workshop plans for Spamalot (London), a dancer at the Chicago Film (London), Mack 'n' Mabel (Kenton Theatre), Oklahoma (Corn Exchange), Different Cabarets as a dancer and also as a singer in and around Reading.

Other shows that Scott has been involved in have also involved Simon Webbe from Blue and N-dubz and most recently Dick Whittington pantomime in Reading starring John Altman (Nasty Nick) and Christina Bailey (Hollyoaks). In 2009, Scott played the part of ?Major Domo? in Cinderella. Film work includes ?The Golden Compass?, a featured character in 'ITV'S ?The Bill?, Channel 4 comedy ?Kabadasses? and many adverts.

Scott loves working as a professional and really enjoys teaching children the skills that he has gained during the years in Dance / Drama (LAMDA) College. He now works as a fully qualified LAMDA instructor and jazz teacher.
